HOME STAGER

PART-TIME; DAYS TBD (WE CAN WORK WITHIN YOUR EXISTING SCHEDULE)

We are looking for a motivated home stager to assist our team in preparation and carry-out of home staging projects. You will assist in tasks that include, but are not limited to, preparing for staging jobs, assisting with onsite projects, and organizing the warehouse. You will work in close collaboration with owner and design director Melissa Morrissey. No experience is required; however, being a student or graduate in a design related field is a plus!

Please let us know your availability between the days and times of Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You are responsible for working directly with the design director herself to learn and properly carry-out staging preparation tasks.

    • ​Help prep and pack for an upcoming week of staging jobs

    • Help pre-plan design concepts and style for staging jobs

    • Select art, mirrors, and wall decor

    • Plan bed set ups and decorative pillows for specific themed jobs

    • Coordinate a cohesive design scheme through accents and small decor pieces

    • Pair lamp selections

    • Work collaboratively with lead stagers to choose furniture selections

  • Day-to-day on-site staging tasks will include….

    • ​Working collaboratively in a team setting when at a property

    • Handle “loose-end” tasks to finalizing a stage; i.e. running to Homesense, Homegoods, etc to select and purchase small decor items that a stage may be missing

    • Picking up pre-purchased furniture selections that need to be obtained from furnitures stores

    • Transporting any small details to and from a job site when needed; i.e. lamps, accents, etc. 

    • Prepping a property for de-staging; i.e. wrapping accents into bins and putting bedding into appropriate bags before movers arrive for larger items

    • Shopping!

  • You are expected to manage the Boston Modern warehouse, carrying out organizational tasks to keep the business running smoothly. 

    • Unpack accent bins and bedding bags in a timely manner 

    • Rearrange small furniture items as needed 

    • Keep bedding and accent rooms clean and tidy

    • Organizational and creative freedom to adjust any existing systems for stagers to easily find daily selections

  • Who you’ll be working with: directly report to owner and creative director; Melissa Morrissey, as well as other stagers, designers, managers, and movers on a daily basis.

ABOUT YOU:

  • A student studying in a design related field, or a creative individual wanting a “jump-start” in the field of design 

  • Positive individual who is willing to learn and has a passion for the design world 

  • An organized individual who can keep organizational systems running smoothly

  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively

  • Take direction well, but also take initiative

  • Okay with lifting light furniture and working with your hands

  • Has a basic understanding of color theory to create cohesive designs

  • Keeps up with the latest design trends 

  • Has an understanding of Boston “neighborhoods” (for example: Beacon Hill, Seaport, East Boston all have different target markets; therefore, design schemes suit the geographic location).

  • Has own car and is willing to drive in and around the city of Boston

  • Overall, you add a positive attitude to the work environment!
